Small But Mighty: Celebrating Small Business Month with Purpose

“Cheers to small business, big impact.”
At SHEAM Strategic Consulting Group, we proudly wear the title of “small business.” Not just because of our size, but because of the strength, strategy, and community we embody. As a business that supports and partners with other small businesses, we’re excited to celebrate National Small Business Month by honoring the resilience, innovation, and impact of entrepreneurs who are building, scaling, and sustaining success every single day.
Let’s clear something up, small doesn’t mean struggling. According to the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), a small business is defined as any independently owned and operated business with less than $7.5 million in average annual receipts. That includes many of the businesses we engage with daily. While some may associate “small business” with limitation or instability, the truth is, small businesses are often lean, innovative, and deeply connected to the communities they serve.

If you're a small business owner or aspiring entrepreneur, there are incredible resources designed with you in mind. The SBA, SCORE, Google Small Business, and local universities all offer free or low-cost tools, mentorship, and educational support to help business owners succeed. Whether you’re just starting out or refining your operations, these resources can guide you through key areas like marketing, funding, compliance, and scaling.
Throughout the month of May, SHEAM will be spotlighting small business facts, marketing tips, strategic insights, and growth resources to empower fellow entrepreneurs. Follow along and join the conversation as we uplift and support the businesses that truly keep our economy moving.
Which small business do you want to shout out this month? Tag them and celebrate!
